Most nosebleeds are not dangerous and can be managed with simple first aid. However, nosebleeds that won’t stop after 20 minutes of pressure, recur frequently, or follow an injury need prompt medical assessment. At Reddy Urgent Care, we assess and treat persistent or recurrent nosebleeds the same day.
Symptoms We Treat
- Bleeding from one or both nostrils
- Nosebleed lasting more than 10–20 minutes despite pressure
- Recurrent nosebleeds
- Nosebleed following facial injury
- Nosebleed with associated headache or dizziness

Types Of Nosebleed (Epistaxis) We Treat
- Anterior nosebleed
Most common type. Usually manageable with 10–20 minutes of pinching the soft part of the nose.
- Posterior nosebleed
Less common, more serious. Often needs medical treatment.
- Nosebleed from injury
Facial trauma can cause nosebleeds — we assess for underlying injury.
- Recurrent nosebleeds
Frequent nosebleeds may indicate dry nasal passages or blood pressure issues.
When to Go to the Emergency Room Instead
Go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 if you or someone with you has:
- Nosebleed that won’t stop after 30 minutes of firm pressure
- Very large volume of blood loss causing dizziness or fainting
- Nosebleed following a serious head or facial injury
If you are unsure, go to the ER. It is always better to be safe.
