When to Go to the Emergency Room Instead
Go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 if you or someone with you has:
- Back pain following a serious accident or significant fall
- Loss of bladder or bowel control alongside back pain (call 911)
- Severe back pain with high fever
- Progressive leg weakness or numbness
