Influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory illness that strikes suddenly and can cause significant illness. At Reddy Urgent Care, we test for flu on-site with rapid results and begin antiviral treatment the same day.

Types Of Flu & Influenza We Treat

• •Influenza A

  Most common and often most severe. Responsible for most seasonal outbreaks.

• •Influenza B

  Generally milder but still causes significant illness, especially in children.

• •Flu with secondary infection

  Can trigger ear infections, sinus infections, or pneumonia.

• •Flu-like illness

  Not all flu-like symptoms are influenza — we test and confirm.

When to Go to the Emergency Room Instead

Go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 if you or someone with you has:

• Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath at rest
• Persistent chest pain or pressure
• Confusion or altered mental status
• Severe or persistent vomiting preventing fluid intake
• Signs of dehydration
• Bluish lips or face

If you are unsure, go to the ER. It is always better to be safe.
